Koh Lanta Attractions

Moo Koh Lanta National Park

Covering most of the southern tip of Koh Lanta Yai, this large nature preserve is a mix of jungles, hills and beaches. Tanod Beach in particular is known as one of the most idyllic places in the entire province.

Even during the peak of the tourist season you can relax on this beach and not see another soul. There are plenty of trails to explore as well as an old lighthouse, from which you can get an astounding view of the azure waters that surround the island.

Koh Lanta Caves

Centuries of precipitation and flowing water have etched extensive caves in the soft limestone of Koh Lanta. An afternoon spent exploring these fascinating caverns is a wonderful and adventurous experience.

Guided tours are available from in the region of 200 baht per person but be aware that caving is difficult and strenuous and may not be suitable for everyone. If you're healthy and game for an adventure and own substantial shoes, you’ll have a great time worming your way through narrow passages, crossing deep chasms and even swimming in a subterranean pool.

Thai Boxing

With three stadiums – one in Klong Dao and two in Long Beach offering traditional Muay Thai (kickboxing) matches, there is usually a fixture every other day during High Season. The night-time event is a good social occasion for both locals and westerners and most have an English-language commentator.

The standard of skills can vary enormously but each night usually starts with children as young as 10 years old fighting, often followed by a westerner (who has been trained on Lanta) fighting a Thai boxer. The big fight between more professional combatants happens at around 22:00, where you can witness the skills and strengths needed for this sport. Koh Lanta Waterfall

In Klong Jark, which means Waterfall Bay, there is a sporadic waterfall which is only there when it has been raining, so do not venture the hour’s trek inland during peak season as you might be severely disappointed! Elephant treks offer a more leisurely way to the waterfall on hot days.
