Koh Lanta's Northwest Coast
Everything You Need to Know About Koh Lanta's Northwest Coast
The northwest coast of Koh Lanta is the area where most visitors tend to stay as it has the greatest variety of accommodation choices, restaurants and bars and also because of its close proximity to the car and passenger ferries. Both Klong Dao and Phrae Ae (Long Beach) have beautiful sandy beaches and stunning sunsets and local accommodation ranges from five-star hotels, boutique resorts to budget bungalows, whilst Klong Kong tends to attract more of a backpacker clientele.
However despite being the most highly populated area in high season, it is still easy to find a quiet spot or, if you are prepared to take a hike, find a beach of your own. The main road that runs down the west coast of the island is teeming with a wide range of restaurants and bars as well as having the only private doctor and dentist. In the north you are never more than 10 minutes away from anything.
