Koh Lanta's Southwest Coast Nightlife
Where to Go at Night on Koh Lanta's Southwest Coast
With a higher proportion of Muslims located on this part of the island, bars tend to be quieter, but generally of a higher standard. Do not expect late-night clubbing but a more chilled approached to drinking.
Areas such as Kantiang Bay and Klong Nin have some wonderful bars, but you will probably find the prices a little higher than the north.
Aqua Bar
Situated on stilts over the beach, this may be a little bar, but it has a big personality! Having fantastic views overlooking the bay, this is an excellent place to watch the sun go down and the party will often go on until late into the night.
Opening Hours: Daily 10:00 – till lateLocation: Within the Baan Laanta Resort, at the northern end of Kantiang Bay
Blue Moon Bar
A very pretty wooden beach bar which definitely benefits from the French influence of the owner, this bar has fire dancing most nights and eclectic live music on occasion. Very laid back in its style but also very trendy, do not expect the latest music playing here but if you want to relax with a beer Blue Moon is hard to beat in Klong Nin. Also serves Thai and Western food and freshly brewed coffee.
Opening Hours: Daily 10:00 - lateLocation: Heading south out of Klong Nin, on the right

Noon Bar
This cocktail bar, which sits on a cliff top overlooking Kantiang Bay, comes alive just before sunset. It’s where the local divers like to congregate to chat over a beer or celebrate the completion of a PADI course. Live music on most nights and often fireworks.
Opening Hours: Daily 15:00 – till lateLocation: Head out of Kantiang Bay and up the next hill, Noon is situated at the top of the hill on the right
On the Rocks
Probably one of the busiest bars in the South, On the Rocks has a wonderfully large circular bar, which is the best place in the south to watch sporting fixtures, especially Formula 1 and Premier League Football, as well as a lively point for divers at the end of the day. Set in well-maintained gardens overlooking the beach and protected from the elements, this bar has a wide range of bottled and draft beers as well as spirits and cocktails.
Opening Hours: Daily 12:00 - lateLocation: As you head south out of Klong Nin, this bar is on the left at White Rock Resort
Tel: +66 (0)75 662 721
Why Not Bar
A funky bar which has recently been refurbished, Why Not has a great vibe, due to the welcoming Thai Rasta staff and the house band playing most nights. Be on the look out for an extremely slim Thai guy with a tambourine who sings in a very high-pitched voice; he will really make your night.
Opening Hours: Daily 10:00 – till lateLocation: Just to the right of Kantiang Bay View Resort
